Module I: Introduction to Data Analysis and Power BI

• What is data analysis? Types: descriptive, diagnostic, predictive
• Introduction to the Power BI ecosystem
• Understanding datasets, models, reports, and dashboards
• The data analysis workflow in Power BI

Module II: Connecting and Preparing Data

• Importing and connecting to multiple data sources (Excel, web, SQL, SharePoint, etc.)
• Data cleaning and shaping in Power Query Editor
• Removing duplicates, handling missing values, and unpivoting data
• Creating relationships between tables (data modeling)

Module III: Data Exploration and Descriptive Analysis

• Creating summary statistics and descriptive tables
• Filtering, grouping, and sorting data
• Exploring patterns using charts: bar, line, column, scatter, matrix
• Visualizing trends, comparisons, and distributions

Module IV: DAX and Analytical Calculations

• Introduction to DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
• Creating calculated columns and measures
• Using functions: IF, SWITCH, CALCULATE, FILTER
• Time intelligence: YTD, QTD, MoM, rolling averages
• Conditional formatting and KPIs
• Star schema vs snowflake schema

Module V: Designing Visual Dashboards and Communicating Insights

• Using slicers, filters, bookmarks, and drill-through
• Creating dashboard layouts with design best practices
• Telling a data story with tooltips, titles, and annotations

Module VI: Publishing and Sharing Insights

• Introduction to Power BI Service
• Publishing and sharing reports
• Creating dashboards in Power BI Online
• Row-Level Security and Workspace Management
• Scheduling data refreshes

Module VII: Final Hands-On Project

Participants will complete a capstone project where they:

• Load and clean a raw dataset
• Perform key analysis (trends, outliers, performance metrics)
• Create measures using DAX
• Design a dynamic dashboard that tells a clear story
• Present their analysis to peers for feedback
