Module I: Introduction to ATLAS.ti and Project Setup

 

  • Conceptual introduction to ATLAS.ti
  • Overview of ATLAS.ti’s capabilities and functionalities
  • Setting up a new project in ATLAS.ti (Creating, saving, and commenting)
  • Adding and importing documents to the project
  • Hands-on Exercise: Create a new project in ATLAS.ti, import qualitative data, and set up the project structure.

 

Module II: Document Management and Organization

 

  • Understanding project components and objects
  • Accessing documents through the drop-down menu, side panel/Navigator, and Manager
  • Organizing documents into groups/families
  • Commenting on and managing documents
  • Hands-on Exercise: Organize a set of documents into groups and families and manage them effectively within the project

 

Module III: Data Segmentation and Quotation Management

 

  • Defining and applying data segmentation
  • Selecting segments and creating free quotations
  • Renaming and commenting on quotations
  • Writing and linking memos, including using the Research Diary memo
  • Case Study: Segment a set of documents, create and manage quotations, and write a reflective memo linking quotations.

 

Module IV: Coding Strategies and Data Analysis

 

  • Definitions and applications of coding
  • Inductive and deductive coding approaches (In vivo coding, Open coding, Free codes)
  • Applying coding strategies and managing codes
  • Exploring and analyzing data through coding
  • Case Study: Apply inductive and deductive coding to a dataset, analyze patterns, and manage codes

 

Module V: Data Exploration, Visualization, and Reporting

 

  • Exploring semantic linkages between codes
  • Using ATLAS.ti’s visualization tools (e.g., linkage graphs, Word Cruncher)
  • Analyzing co-occurrences and using the Query Tool
  • Generating and interpreting the Code-Document Table
  • Case Study: Analyze and visualize coded data using ATLAS.ti tools to identify key insights and patterns.
