Introduction

This 5-day training course is designed to empower researchers, analysts, and professionals with practical, hands-on skills in using NVivo, a premier qualitative data analysis (QDA) software.

NVivo excels at helping users organize, code, explore, and visualize non-numerical data such as interview transcripts, field notes, open-ended survey responses, social media posts, and multimedia sources.

What You’ll Learn

  • Setting up and managing NVivo projects tailored for complex qualitative research
  • Importing and organizing diverse data types such as text, audio, video, PDFs, and social media content
  • Structuring your coding framework and developing themes using NVivo’s powerful nodes and coding functionalities
  • Exploring patterns and relationships in your data through powerful query tools like word frequency, textual search, and matrix coding
  • Visualizing insights via NVivo’s modeling, mapping, and charting capabilities to enhance interpretation and reporting

Who Should Attend

  • Researchers and academics conducting qualitative or mixed-method studies
  • Social scientists such as anthropologists, sociologists, and psychologists
  • Market researchers and consumer insights professionals seeking to interpret textual data
  • Policy analysts and evaluators working with focus groups, reports, or stakeholder interviews
  • NGO and development sector practitioners conducting program evaluations or field studies
  • Monitoring & evaluation (M&E) specialists managing qualitative metrics
  • Graduate students and PhD candidates using NVivo for their theses or dissertations
  • Healthcare, education, and public health professionals analyzing interviews, reports, or case studies
  • Consultants and business analysts leveraging qualitative insights for decision-making
  • Journalists and communications professionals analyzing media, interviews, and textual sources
  • Project managers and team leads

Training Methodology

  • Instructor-led presentations and live demonstrations
  • Hands-on practical exercises per module
  • Small group discussions and peer learning
  • Real-world datasets for practice
  • Supplementary materials and templates

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the NVivo interface and develop proficiency in its core features.
  • Set up and effectively manage NVivo projects to organize qualitative data.
  • Develop a clear analytical framework by creating and using coding structures (nodes).
  • Execute qualitative data analysis using NVivo’s query and visualization tools.
  • Apply advanced analysis techniques, including comparative and mixed-methods approaches.
  • Generate and customize insightful reports and visualizations based on NVivo outputs.
  • Integrate NVivo findings with other tools (e.g., MS Word, Excel) for comprehensive reporting.
  • Gain confidence in handling large datasets and conducting in-depth qualitative research.
